Walter Halls was born in 1885 in West Row (Mildenhall Q3-1885 4A:671), son of James and Jane HALLS (née TAYLOR).
1891 census...Aged 5, he was at Cottage, Ferry Corner, West Row with his father James HALLS [35] farm labourer; his mother Jane [32]; brothers James [3] and Harry [2]. All were born in Mildenhall. 1901 census...Aged 15, farm labourer, he was at Youngman's Lane, West Row with his parents (father now stockman); brothers James (farm labourer), Harry, John [9] and Tommy [6]; sisters Susan [7] and Jane [1]. The new siblings all born in Mildenhall. 1911 census...Aged 25, single, farm labourer he was in West Row with his parents (father a farm labourer); brother James (shepherd),John and Thomas, both farm labourers; sisters Susan and Jane. Now all recorded as born in West Row. One sibling had died.
The pension card has his mother at West Row, near the Plough Inn, later moving to 64 Stanley Road, Newmarket

Walter enlisted in West Row. His Army service record has not been found and dying of his wounds there is no way to say where or when exactly he was wounded He died in the Royal Hospital, Gray's Inn Road, London.
